Scholars at the annual RSSAF auction, Rhodes House

Who are we?

The Rhodes Scholars' Southern Africa Forum (RSSAF) is a charitable organisation established by Rhodes Scholars at the University of Oxford over a decade ago. An entirely student-run organisation, RSSAF aims to draw upon the resources available in the Rhodes Community to support positive change in Southern Africa.

Although the Rhodes Scholarship is granted to students from all over the world, there is a common theme that binds all scholars - the historical link between the Rhodes scholarship and Southern Africa.

The scholarship and the opportunities it affords derive from the fortune accrued from the wealth of a region and its people. What one chooses to make of this is a personal decision. Yet it is the awareness of this connection which underlines the activities of RSSAF, and which has seen many students contribute in some small way to a region which has provided so much, and faces major economic and social challenges today.

All Rhodes Scholars are members of RSSAF, and it has been their continued participation and commitment, as well as the support of the Rhodes Trust, that has enabled the ongoing pursuit of the aims of the organisation.
